The inaugural issue of Oath steps boldly into the world with an exceptional line up of photographers. Our theme for volume one is dedicated to curiosity. We introduce our ‘Go-See’s’ section, which showcases emerging voices from Africa. Oath speaks to Ethiopian documentary photographer Hilina Abebe, and we feature work by Johannesburg-based photographer Roger Ballen. ‘The Imaginarium Project’ highlights a selection of faceless portraiture working with human consciousness. Our ‘Boyhood’ curation is a visual representation of how photographers from Africa document the complexities of being a young boy. We saw it fitting to dedicate our inaugural edition to curiosity as we too, are curious seekers of great talent and storytelling through photography.
